Bathroom – Tools for Home Improvement Projects
Tools To Consider for Bath Projects
Remodeling your home requires the use of various tools. Remodeling a bathroom is no exception as the tools that are required will vary. You will need to use the right tool for a specific job during the remodel of your bathroom. All the tools that you will need can easily be found at a home improvement store.
Tools that you will need to use for a bathroom remodel will depend on the required task. Tools that you will need typically include the use a screwdriver, pliers, a putty knife, a scraper, a tape measure, a level, an adjustable wrench, a ladder, a power drill, a trowel, a bucket, a stud finder, pencil, caulk gun and the use of a utility knife.
Screwdriver
This is a tool that you will need to loosen screws that are used to secure and fasten products together. A popular product that is installed in a bathroom is a bathtub door or shower surround. A screwdriver will need to be used to disassemble the frame for the surround or a sliding bathtub door.
Pliers
The use of pliers is necessary to loosen fittings that secure water lines to a faucet or toilet. Pliers will be a necessary tool that needs to be included for any bathroom remodel. A pair of pliers can also be used if you need to loosen a bolt that a wrench cannot easily reach.
Putty Knife
Scraping old caulk off of a bathroom wall or around the edge of a bathtub will require the use of a putty knife. This is a small flat tool that can also be used to apply spackle or a filler compound to a wall. You can also use a putty knife to scrape off paint and other residue.
Scraper
Removing wallpaper from the walls in your bathroom may require the use of a scraper. This is a tool to use if you need to scrape off residue from the wall when wallpaper is taken off. A scraper is also a good tool to use for removing dried caulk.
Tape Measure
The tape measure is the best friend of anyone who is working on a remodel project. A tape measure will be needed to find the proper placement for items that you need to install.
Adjustable Wrench
Larger plumbing projects in a bathroom may require the use of an adjustable wrench. This is a tool that can be used to expand to a larger size and is a good option to disconnect a sink drain.
Ladder
Reaching the ceiling to remove a light fixture or to install a vent requires a ladder. The use of an 8-foot ladder is all that is needed to reach most bathroom ceilings.
Power Drill
When a screwdriver does not work to remove screws, upgrade to a power drill. This tool is also used if you need to secure the bracket for a sink or vanity to the wall. A power drill allows you to drive screws into a wall with ease.
Trowel
Applying mortar to a wall to install tile requires the use of a trowel. A trowel is also a good tool when a drywall compound need to be applied after drywall is installed.
Bucket
A small bucket is a good tool to have if you need to replace drain lines for a sink. The bucket will catch water from the drain when you remove the trap from the drain line. If you do not have a tool box, use a 5-gallon bucket to hold your tools.
Stud Finder & Pencil
Items that you install on a wall need to be secured to the studs. Finding the studs in a wall is done using a stud finder. This is an electronic device that is used to detect wood studs. You can then mark locations of studs by using the pencil.
Caulk Gun
Finishing any bathroom sink or tub installation is not complete until you apply caulk. Caulk will help to seal leaks that may occur. To apply caulk you will need to cut the end of the tube with your utility knife and then insert it into the caulk gun. A caulk gun allows you to apply a steady bead of caulk.
